The most important factor is structural security, but if you think of it I am doing this experiment on a metal roof structure, I wouldn’t go any deeper than I have and I am lucky that I can accerss the base of the roof through the ceiling to check if there is any evidence of weakness or oxidisation. So if you have a metal roof, wait and see what mine does first, just in case! And waterproof waterproof waterproof, just to be sure, waterproof again.
